Today Steve ran a writing workshop for his 1st year students, where they wrote drafts of a piece of flash fiction for their assignment.
A lecture in two parts. The first half was by Kate Lewis. Kate played a piece of music from the film, THE BLACK SWAN. The challenge was to identify DENOTATIONS and CONNOTATIONS in the music.
Gerrit Olivier delivered the second part of the lecture. Gerrit delved more deeply into how DENOTATION and CONNOTATION are at work in one of Zanele Muholi’s challenging photographic self-portraits.
