August 2009

While I was caricaturing at the Y&R party, a videographer who was wandering around filming stuff happened upon me.

I immediately opened a new page, and made a speed-sketch of him filming me. He wandered off again before I brushed in the colour.
If you’re interested in hiring me for digital caricatures at your year-end event, please get hold of Jennifer as soon as you can. She handles my diary. Reach her via email at bookings@royblumenthal.com.
Here’s my pricelist:

  • 3 hours: R6 900.
  • 4 hours: R9 350.

LIVE DIGITAL CARICATURING NIGHT-TIME EVENTS:

    (Ending at or before 11pm)

My pricing includes all of my originating equipment and setup, but excludes plasma, lcd, video projector. My clients need to supply those. I’m not a VAT vendor. So I don’t charge VAT.

My pricing also includes my uploading the high res pics to my Flickr gallery for free download by anyone who wants copies of the pics. I work in high enough resolution for people to print A1 posters. I own and retain all copyright over my work, and release it under a Creative Commons ‘Attribution, Share-Alike’ license. This allows people who want to use my work to do so without asking my permission. They can modify the work, change it, pretty much do whatever they want with it, including making money out of it, all without needing to involve me. The proviso is that I must be credited as the originator. And the work must be released under a similar license.

I’m looking forward to being at your next event!

Here’s a slideshow of the caricatures I made at Y&R Johannesburg’s ‘Dress to Kill’ Party on Friday 28 August…

All of the pics are available for free download from my Flickr gallery. Here’s the link to the set: Y&R Dress to Kill on Flickr.

If you were at the party, and you’d like to make copies of the pics, it’s really easy. Head to the set at the link above, or click on the pic you like in the slideshow.

When you’ve found the pic or pics you’d like to download, simply click on the little magnifying glass icon directly above the chosen image. It’s captioned ‘ALL SIZES’. Choose the biggest size. Right click on the image once it’s in your browser, and save it to your harddrive.

I recommend taking it to a place that prints photos on canvas. They’ll be able to print it large. A2 should be perfectly fine at the resolution I work at.

I release all of my work under a Creative Commons ‘Attribution, Share-Alike’ license. This means you can do anything at all you like with the work. As long as you release it under a similar license. And you attribute me (Roy Blumenthal) as the originator.

I’m available to do caricatures at parties, as well as high-level visual facilitation at your events. I convert ideas and words into pictures, live, as you’re speaking. Helping your attendees to retain information better. And really aiding interaction and participation. Head for my portfolio page for pricing and booking details: http://royblumenthal.com/portfolio.
